Install an Abkai keyboard layout

Download an Abkai keyboard layout program and run it. Then restart your computer.

Note 1: When you install a keyboard layout program, it will add a keyboard layout file (dll file) in the system folder (Windows\System32) and modify the system configuration (Registry). So some anti-virus and security programs will prompt a security alert. The files downloaded from Abkai.net are with no virus, Trojan horse or spyware, please allow the installation

Note 2: If you “lose” the Abkai keyboard in the language bar after you install it, please add the dll files of Abkai keyboard to the white list of your anti-virus and security program. The files are located in Windows\System32 and named KbdEditAbXXXX.dll (XXXX varies depending on the keyboard you installed).

The language of a keyboard layout

The languages that Windows supported officially are limited. The languages that are not officially supported by Windows cannot be categorized correctly. For the most system support and compatibility, Abkai keyboards treat the unsupported languages as the similar supported languages if possible.

=: supported by Windows officially
≈: unsupported by Windows, but similar to
→: unsupported by Windows and with no similar language

Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/Server 2008 (R2)/Server 2012 (R2)/+

Traditional Mongolian = Mongolian (Traditional Mongolian)
Todo, Manchu, Sibe, Daur, Old Manchu ≈ (Traditional Mongolian)

Tibetan = Tibetan
Dzongkha ≈ Tibetan

Tai → Chinese, English…

Enable an Abkai keyboard layout

Abkai keyboard layout will be enabled automatically after you install it. If it is not enabled, you can enable it manually.

Windows 8/8.1/Server 2012 (R2)

1. Right-click the Start Logo, click Control Panel.

a) If the items are viewed by Category, click Add a language in Clock, Language, and Region.

b) If the items are viewed by Large icons or Small icons, click Language.

2. In the page Change your language preferences — if the language you want to use is not listed, click Add a language, choose the language, and then click Add — double-click the language, click Add an input method, double-click the keyboard layout you want to enable, then it will be added. Click Save.

Windows Vista/7/Server 2008 (R2)

1. Click Start, click Control Panel.

a) If you are using Category View in Control Panel, click Change keyboards or other input methods.

b) If you are using Classic View in Control Panel, click Regional and Language, then click Keyboards and Languages tab.

2. Click Change Keyboards. In the General tab, click Add. Expand the language -> Keyboard and check the keyboard layout you want to enable.

1. Click Start, click Control Panel.

a) If you are using Category View in Control Panel, click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options, and then click Regional and Language Options.

b) If you are using Classic View in Control Panel, click Regional and Language Options directly.

2. On the Languages tab, click Details. On the Settings tab, click Add. Choose a proper language for Input language. Then choose the keyboard layout for Keyboard layout/IME.
