Difference between Manchu Script & Sibe Script<\/span><\/h2>\n

Sibe (Manchu: \u1830\u1873\u182a\u185d, Sibe: \u1830\u185e\u182a\u185d, DAO: Sibe, Simplified Chinese: \u9521\u4f2f, Traditional Chinese: \u932b\u4f2f, Pinyin: X\u012bbó, Japanese: \u30b7\u30dc) is also translated as Xibe, Sibo or Xibo. I personally prefer Sibe. The Sibe language is a dialect of the Manchu language. It is spoken by members of the Sibe ethnic group in Xinjiang, in the northwest of the People's Republic of China.<\/p>\n

The Sibe languages and script were born in 1947. The Sibe script is a modification version of Manchu script.<\/p>\n

1) Most of the letters of Manchu script and Sibe script are the same but there are seven different letters. Those different letters are encoded differently in Unicode.<\/p>\n

They are i<\/em> (\u1873<\/span>,\u185e<\/span>), f<\/em> (\u1876<\/span>,\u186b<\/span>), k<\/em> (\u1874<\/span>,\u1863<\/span>), ng<\/em> (\u1829<\/span>,\u1862<\/span>), j<\/em> (\u1835<\/span>,\u186a<\/span>), j’<\/em> (\u1877<\/span>,\u1872<\/span>) and r<\/em> (\u1875<\/span>,\u1837<\/span>). [The other forms of the above letters] and [all the other letters] are the same.<\/p>\n

2) Sibe is said to have only 5 vowel letters and does not use the 6th Manchu vowel letter u'<\/em> (\u1861<\/span>) (in most cases including the isolate form). But Sibe does use it after k<\/em> (\u1863<\/span>), g<\/em> (\u1864<\/span>) and h<\/em> (\u1865<\/span>).<\/p>\n

3) In Manchu, there are only wa<\/em> (\u1838\u1820<\/span>) and we<\/em> (\u1838\u185d<\/span>), no wi<\/em>, wo <\/em>or wu<\/em>. In Sibe, all of them are available.<\/p>\n

a) No words contains wi <\/em>(\u1838\u185e<\/span>), wo <\/em>(\u1838\u1823<\/span>) or wu <\/em>(\u1838\u1860<\/span>) in Sibe. They are, actually, placeholders.<\/p>\n

b) Sibe wi<\/em>, wo <\/em>and wu <\/em>look the same as Manchu fi<\/em>, fo <\/em>and fu<\/em>. (Of course, they use different codes.)<\/p>\n

4) In Manchu, the negative suffix is =raku'<\/em> (\u180a\u1875\u1820\u1874\u1861<\/span>). In Sibe, it is written as =rku'<\/em> (\u180a\u1837\u1863\u1861<\/span>).<\/p>\n
